  • Visions of Budapest

    Moscow
    Lizst Institute
    October 2, 2025 — December 20, 2025

In the mesmerizing metropolis of Budapest, where the Danube flows and the spirit of freedom lingers, the photographs of Giampiero Assumma reveal the city’s enigmatic character.

Between 2017 and 2019, Assumma lived in Budapest, and through his lens he masterfully captured the delicate dance between Eastern and Western influences, as well as the harmonious fusion of past and present.

With a subtle sense of the city’s paradoxical beauty, energy, and melancholy, Assumma’s photographs convey profound stories unfolding in the streets, within buildings, and among the people of Budapest. His works encourage spectators to look beyond the city’s illusory façade, rediscover poetry in everyday moments, and feel the depth of human emotions that resonate within.

A testament to the emotional power of photography, Assumma’s artworks inspire a deep connection with this captivating city, awakening emotions and inviting viewers to surrender to its charm.

  • In the Inextinguishable Light of Moscow

    Moscow
    A. Cheglakov Foundation
    November 12, 2024 — January 12, 2025

The light in Giampiero Assumma’s works, the “inextinguishable light”, is a key element, a guide into the microcosm of each city dweller, a mediator capable of transforming and revealing whatever it touches. Thanks to this light, the photographs come to life, and their dynamism unveils the depth and lyricism of the captured moment. Moscow, in different seasons, is not just a backdrop that sets the mood—it is an active participant in the narrative of its contemporary history.

In abstract motifs and fleeting reflections, we notice the artist’s desire to delve into the soul of the City, to establish a deeply personal, “sacred” connection with it.

The interaction of images and symbols from everyday city life shapes our consciousness, thereby predetermining our future reality.

  • Mauerpark

Formerly defined as ‘poor but sexy’, Berlin has become one of world’s most loved capitals with its subculture and its eccentric, creative, and talented outsiders. Mauerpark is one if not “the” Berlin’s most-visited Sunday hang-out. It is the perfect place to observe the hedonistic side and the persistent anarchist character of the city. The alternative scene that until a few years ago used to live and prosper in Prenzlauer Berg has been driven out by gentrification and the rising costs of living, and the park is its last remaining stronghold.
